The MISSION OF HOPE, located in Dora, Alabama, provides food and clothing to those in need. Our programs are all directed toward the hope that we can keep hunger and economic desperation at the lowest possible level.
The Mission of Hope distributes food to qualifying residents of Walker County, AL and Jefferson County, AL each month. Mission of Hope Dora has one food giveaway per month on the 4th Thursday of the month at 8am. |

Please mail checks to: Mission of Hope P.O. Box 878 Dora, AL 35062 Mission of Hope is introducing our new donation policy, effective Monday, December 30, 2024. We will be accepting bagged or boxed clothing, shoes, blankets, small household items, and small furniture every Monday and Wednesday from 8am to 11:30am. On the third Saturday of each month, we will accept donations from 8am to 10am, weather permitting, and we invite you to join us in making a difference. Please note that we are unable to accept large furniture, sofas, mattresses, or box springs. If you have any questions or require guidance, you can contact us at 205-255-7181. We kindly request that you refrain from leaving items at the blocked entrance of Mission of Hope. We appreciate your support and assistance in helping us reach the community. |

Alabama has the 2nd highest food hardship rate in the nation. In Walker County alone, more than 10,000 people do not know where their next meal will come from. More than 75,000 families have come to Mission of Hope since we opened in 1992. Most of them never needed a food bank until an unexpected event or situation left them in financial distress. They are nervous, worried and unsure of what to do. They come to us, not looking for a hand out, but for a hand to lift them up from a crisis.
